Good morning fellow tinychatters!
Your requests for more moderation controls have not fallen on deaf ears. No, we have been hard at work like busy beavers creating a ultimate solution for non temporary chats.
Let me go over some of the new features we have enabled today:
Push to talk mode: Ever had a user come in with no headphones and ruin the entire chat with a echo? Now we ask the user if he has headphones and if he does not, we put them on push to talk mode, so their microphone is only active when they are speaking.
/broadcast command: If you enable “Control who can broadcast audio and video” you can manually make users go on and off cam, by typing /broadcast username – This means you can effectively do live shows, selecting people from the audience to go live and controlling when they are done.
/oper command: Ever wanted to make another user a room admin when you had to take off for a few hours? Now you can. Do /oper username and they will have all the powers you have!
Linking is back! We have re-enabled hyperlinking for @twitter and http:// links- No more copy and paste!
Tweet your chat: Ever wanted to have your chat messages syndicated through twitter like other services (ustream/twitcam/etc.) ? Well now you can! This feature is now bug tested and is being released for the masses
High Quality! – We have raised the quality on free and pro rooms by a significant amount! In fact, its a 4x improvement on free rooms!
Private messaging- We have added private messaging ala left clicking on a users name. There is also additional options in the menu as well.
Require Twitter mode- As a room starter, there is a new mode called “Require twitter” which will force anyone who wishes to enter your chat to signin through twitter. This means you can easily see who everyone is by checking their twitter name for their tinychat name.
We also have knocked off about 60 bugs that arent worth mentioning here, dealing with all sorts of issues from formatting, display and sound issues. Within the next few days we will be knocking out a wordpress plugin, a restyled video screen, a swear filter and custom hashtags for your own rooms.

Absolutely love the service.
I think one nice feature would be, that if someone is not broadcasting video but just mic, that the square black box for their broadcast should allow them to insert an Avatar that “vibrates” when they are speaking. Much like in Skype.
That would be a really cool feature.

we’re on the embed and we got a sample of the features but some of them still seem to be glitchy.
A) links still don’t work for some
B) the /oper does not always work (did for a little last night but seems glitchy)
C) the public/private function was definitely glitchy. When the room reset it took a while until it actually took. During which we got a face full of fappers and out-right creepers to the point we had to switch over to one of our pass worded rooms to deal with it.
All the other features are interesting but there’s still a few hurdles you need to fix
The swear filter sounds like a great idea but it’d be nice if the host could turn it on or off (some of us enjoy swearing like drunken sailors).
seems that if you mod someone with the /oper command, the mod only lasts until the next reload then its gone.
would make more sense if the modding was ip/cookie based like the bans.
seems that you can no longer browse through open rooms. the only ones showing up are the first 5 that are listed.
When I op someone I don’t see their star, or when another op chooses to /oper I don’t see what they’ve done. I only see one star, mine.
Along with this Update, I Also Noticed that The Full List of Available Rooms Arent Available on the Homepage. Howcome?
Brian sev, unless they made a glitch it could be in the panel where people are taking the rooms off the api so it doesn’t show up on the public list.

ok this thing has a lot of glitches in it. i paid for the service so i could save the room because it kept resetting then requiring people to sign in with twitter even though we never set it that way and guess what? even when i sign in through the tiny chat member sign in area it still says i’m not the room owner and cant get support to answer my email. go figure…

the /oper does work, it just isnt showing the status update to you. We will release a update that will show this.

ok it sucks that for some rooms you have to put a password to broadcast the main op doesnt choose it to be that way or knows what the password is themself and sometimes it cant be changed whats this probelm

Wonderful service – tried it out this morning and absolutely loved it!
Being a newbie, I had a few questions about your service (not sure whether it is the right place to ask..):
1. If I create a new chat room and select “Yes” for “Control who can broadcast audio and video”, then only those whom I approve/authorize can enter the room and chat and/or share their audio and video with me, right? I am worried about some stranger snooping in to my chat room.
2. Only if I select “List this room in the tiny chat public API”, my room would be visible to all and listed in the home page, correct?
3. My chat history is not saved any where, right?
4. When is my chat room actually cleaned up? When I close my browser/session? Can I reuse the same room/room name?
Please clarify. Thank you!
